With gas prices and worries about the economy swirling around us on every news channel, this summer we heard a lot about the "Staycation." As Vermonters, we know how to do this very well. It's about being a tourist in your own town. Giving yourself a treat. Doing something you like to do on vacation very close to home. That's what brought me to The Green River Bridge House. This lovingly restored post office is now a B&B nestled on the Green River in Guilford, VT. The innkeeper, Joan Seymour, is also a licensed aesthetician. As a friend once so aptly told me: "A facial is like a mini-vacation." And no where is this more true than at the Green River Bridge House. While my sister was having her facial, I sat beside the Green River, walked across the red covered bridge and listened to the water fall over the historic timber crib dam. I was relaxed and far away from work and worry, long before my facial began. I've had facials in many spas and resorts across the country and this facial was one of the best. Not only are Joan's skills excellent, but even better, it's the atmosphere that she's created. Even though, I was about 40 minutes away from my home, I was transported to another world. If you're looking for a B&B with Vermont charm and an innkeeper who can put you at ease the moment you walk in the door, take a respite at the Green River Bridge House. It's now one of my top spots for my own Vermont "staycations."
